BALKANFEST-2009

BALKANFEST – taking placeat Kyiv’s Palats Sportu on December 4-5, 2009 – is an international two-day festival organized by a team of Balkan music enthusiasts for thousands of Balkan music fans. Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra (Serbia), Gogol Bordello (U.S.A.), Haydamaky (Ukraine),Fanfare Ciocărlia (Romania), Kočani Orkestar (Macedonia) andKAL (Serbia) are headlining the festival – carnivals, show booths, rock-n-roll, jazz, gypsy dances, Turkish marches, Sarajevo’s punk-culture on trumpets, clarinets, fiddles, and kettledrums, influenced by melodies from the Middle East and even Jamaica.
