Poltava region at all times was called the soul of Ukraine. The land which was the home for fairy Natalka Poltavka offers tourists rest on picturesque banks of Horol, Sula and Psel Rivers, miraculous Myrgorod's mineral water, acquaintance with the capital of Ukrainian pottery in Opishnya village, visit to memorial and ethnographic museums.
During the X-XIII centuries Poltavskiy region belonged to Kyiv Russ and in XV-XVIII to Zaporizhska Sich. The region is full of historical monuments such as regimental towns of Zaporizhske Wiysko Poltava, Lubny, and Gadyach), numerous memorable places of folk war of Ukrainian kosaks against polish army, and ensemble of monuments devoted to the Northern War between Russia and Sweden which took place at the beginning of the XIX century.
