Lviv region is historical, cultural, and political center of the West Ukrainian lands. The ancient land of Halichina offers the tourists amazingly picturesque landscapes of mountains Beskydy with the "skiing capital" village Slavsko, miraculous mineral sources of Morshin and Truskavets, ethnographical exotic character of Boiky-land and Lemky-land, sites of ancient settlements, castles, museums, exhibitions, the atrical shows, and musical festivals. Halichina is very interesting at Christmas and Epiphany. Tourists all over the world come to Halichina at Christmas. On New Year's Eve they make "diduh" from the first winter sheaf, and "holubtsi" - artificial birds that symbolize the new sun. They also sing and dance in circle with leading a goat, and other national customs. The great decorations on winter holidays are ancient streets, temples, and castles (there are a great number of them in towns and villages in Lviv region).
