Blue-eyed Volyn is the land of rivers and lakes, which are considered to be the cleanest springs in Europe, the land of primeval forests and wild animals, the land of folk traditions and customs extant today. Volyn is famous for its ancient castles where princes Lubart and princes Radzvil lived, for its architectural heritage and churches of XII-XIX centuries. This marvelous land brought up the famous poetess Lesia Ukrainka. Marshy woodlands whispered in her ears legends about mermaids, dwarfs, fairies, forest and field little men who appeared later in her novel "The Song of The Forest". Crystal-clear water of grey-headed Svitaz narrated to Adam Mitskevich the legendary poem "Svitazanka". The curative water of Svitaz lake in the XVII-XIX centuries was taken to Warsaw so that ladies could have a rejuvenescent bath. Flora and fauna of Volyn are very diverse and represented by different natural biological types of forests and meadows, ponds and bogs.
