"Podolia, you are The Beauty of Ukraine!" said Lesia Ukrainka, the great Ukrainian poetess. She defines the marvelous Ternopil nature very correctly. The land, where the Zbruch River flows through the chalky flanks of the low wooded mountains into the full-flowing Dniestr, is attractive with lavish pastures, thick forests, caves and lakes, canyons and waterfalls. The third part of all famous ancient fortresses and castles in Ukraine is situated in Ternopil region; a lot of churches, Catholic churches and synagogues are important architectural and historical monuments.
